Christmas is my favorite holiday, and as we all know, I love to decorate!
During the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, I smile at all the pumpkins and fall decor around my home. But, really deep down, I dream about pulling out my Christmas decorations and how beautiful my house will look for the holidays. I pull everything out the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year and rush to get the tree up so that everything else can go into place. I usually use the same decorations year after year, adding some new ones if I feel the need. But mostly, I take my old, new, homemade, gifted, basically the whole accumulation of Christmas decor and use everything in different ways throughout my home.

The mantel is my absolute favorite place to decorate. I love taking my everyday decorations and transforming them into a Christmas wonderland. First, I switch out the flowers that sit on my favorite book by Allan Poe. This year I focused more on holly and pinecones with just a little accent of poinsettias.

Next, I take my oversized lanterns and fill them with red, green, and gold Christmas tree balls. In the larger one, I leave the candle and fill in around it.

This year I found an old string of pine garland that wasn’t all that pretty, but I strung from one side to the other. To spruce it up a bit and I found some snow-covered pine cones I had in my box of Christmas floral. It is amazing what that little addition did to make it pop and look so very pretty.
Last but not least is hanging the stockings. Two years ago, I found these beautiful stocking hooks that have reindeer and the word “Believe.” Being a family of six can make it hard to find hooks for the fireplace that match, so when I saw these on a clearance rack, I had to grab them. Now they are a must-have and something I hope to showcase for years. And look how awesome those cute stockings hung with love look!
The finished look this year makes my heart swell with glee!
Our beautiful tree is one that my parents got for me several years back. It is still as beautiful today as the day they gave it to me. But what makes our tree so special is the cumulation of all the unique ornaments. My parents started a tradition of giving me one ornament every year, and I have carried that tradition on with my children. So when you look at my tree, you will see my past strung around, a few from my hubby’s childhood, and ornaments that reflect every stage of my four kids’ lives.
Pillows: I always say that a quick change of pillows in a room can change the whole mood. Obviously, Christmas is in the air in the Dahle household.
I am a plant person, and real plants are preferred, but I like to decorate with silk flowers. I have several vases, bottles, urns, and containers around my home that I fill with seasonal flowers, and the holidays are no different.

As a family, we always watch “Christmas Vacation” on both Thanksgiving and then again on Christmas Eve…and maybe a few other times. One of my favorite gifts from our kids is this set of moose mugs, and even though we don’t drink much eggnog, we do enjoy displaying them.

My table got a fresh look by moving out the center flowers and replacing them with a festive candle and flowers.

2020 brought in a lot of ick, so I needed to liven things up a bit with something new. Ironically the new is actually something old. When we were cleaning out our new project home, I found this Merry Christmas light and knew that it was just the thing to bring some cheer to our home this year.

My front porch also gets a little holiday change up. My welcome basket with flowers is replaced by a wreath that makes me smile… everyone should “Believe.” My welcome sign is joined by a Christmas tree all of its own. And the candy cane’s finish the look.

The Christmas lights on our house are the star of the show. For years I asked my hubby to hang lights, and he would hang a few to make me happy. But really, it was not what I was wanted to see. Then two years ago, I found someone who would hang lights cut perfectly for my home. When they take them down, they store them for the year, and all I have to do is reschedule year after year for this beautiful sight.

Last but not least, our Roxy girl gets her own Christmas makeover. I think of my pup’s collar as I think of clothes; they need to be changed to fit the mood and season. So, this sweet girl has her pretty red Christmas collar to show off to all her friends and the neighbors who all adore her.

Cheers friends!
